About the current yacht, named Eye-spy.

With Eye-spy to be launched late June 2003, the layout has been designed with the present builders specifications in mind.

1/. Fast ocean going capabilities with pleasing lines. The ocean can be an unpredictable environment hence the design had to have the owners confidence to be comfortable in the harshest weather. Strength through engineering excellence and good sea keeping properties.

2/. It was important for the builder to project a sense of pride in ownership. Pleasing aesthetics & quality craftsmanship are essential. A long term desire to own such a craft needs to be reflected in all aspects of design & build.

3/. Two king-size cabins with private ensuite, two double guest cabins. Ventilation is important (especially in the tropics) with moderate storage required for long term live aboard requirements. Natural light & a sense of space whilst maintaining the compactness the 4 cabin layout presents.

4/. Expansive galley with all the amenities of home. Not having the person preparing the food cut off from the main saloon & enough settings for 10 persons. Entertaining & sharing is an important aspect of cruising. A relaxed atmosphere with panoramic views from within the cabin whilst maintaining privacy.

5/. The cockpit needs to be functional with the massive rig to be handled by one sailor. All sails had to be furling for ease of control &all systems easily accessible. The cockpit is where most of the day to day living takes place with activities like diving, fishing & lounging can be had in comfort. Boarding from a tender or via the water should be easy with plenty of room for multiple guests. Be it day sailing, ocean passage or a seated dinner for 10, the cockpit needs to be flexible for all occasions.

6/. Long stays on board are anticipated. Environmental considerations & respecting those around you meant the yacht had to have it's own water making & sewerage treatment/holding on board.
